Week #1-8/17/ 2009

Hello and welcome to week 1 of NMT! I have been going over my list for the past few days and I have so many artists on it I can have a new one for the next 20 weeks. So, I have decided to do TWO artists each Tuesday for now so I can get through my list. The two I am featuring this week are very different from each other.

I Hope You Enjoy!

Blue Foundation started out in 2000 based on Bichi aka Tobias Wilner’s cooperation with various artists and musicians. The music can be described as a mix of melodic dreamy pop influenced by indietronica and shoegaze. The creator, Tobias Wilner, just calls it folk music for modern people. With influences from shoegaze, folk, turntablism, electronica, alternative classical music, film noir and contemporary music.

I first came across this band when I heard them on The O.C., then never really heard anything else from them for a while. They have been featured on a few TV shows including SYTYCD and also in the poplar hit movie Twilight. I do have to say that their song “Eyes on Fire” is my favoirt song from the album, with its haunting undertones. I can’t help but to be put under singer Kirstine Stubbe’s spell while listing to her sing the song. The entire album is a must buy. With a good mix of both male and female vocals there isn’t a chance to get bored with the outstanding music this group creates. Other favorites from the album include “Enemy” and “Talk to Me”

If you are a fan of Feist, Regina Spektor or Sarah Bareilles, you need to check out this new and up-in-coming artist, Lucy Schwartz. With a few features on some resent soundtrack’s like The Women, Post Grad, Adam, and the hit TV show Private Practice. I am a fan of her album and love her voice.
