Ok, I am slackin' this week, many of you know why, so I am stealing music from someone else as the post this week instead of researching someone on my own.
Shawn posted this video on her page mid to late last week. I'm really diggin' the sound from this group Neon Trees.
Like her, I will tell you not to really pay attention to the corny ass video but just listen to the song. The group has an EP out now and will have a full length album out March 23. And if you are interested they also have a PodCast on iTunes documenting their journey in making the up-coming album. I personally haven't check it out yet, but I will be later in the week. And here is the link to their web site, once loaded it will play a few of their songs so you can get more of a feel for their sound. Fame Is Dead

This week I have a group by the name of Broken Bells. The two song I have featured by them are on their upcoming self titles album due out March 9th. They have a great alternative, indie rock, electronica sound. So check them out.

Happy New Years!
Hey guys!!! I hope everyone had a great New Years. I spent New Years Eve with a friend just hanging out and then I spent my New Years day watching the Rose Bowl Parade, eating the traditional NY's feast of pork, black eyed peas, collard greens, apple sauce and corn bread. Then I finished off the day at the Fox working the Avett Brothers Concert. It was soooo sooooo good!!!!! I enjoyed both of their opening acts and will be featuring them in the weeks to come on here.
I know I have been MIA for the past few weeks. But it has been crazy with the holiday's and I have been house/pet sitting this past week as well. Next week I will be starting back so please be sure to tune in.

Week # 15 & 16 - 12/01/09
Hello all! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend and a very festive Thanksgiving! Sorry I missed last weeks, in all honesty I simply forgot to post anything due to trying to get the house ready for company on Thursday. I didn't realize I didn't post anything until late Thursday night so I just held off till today. So as usual, when I miss a week I give you 4 new artist instead of just two. Also I am feeling a bit under the weather today so I didn't do as much research on these musicians as I usually do, so please forgive me.
So this week I have two girls and two guys. First up is SAOSIN. I heard this group being played on 99x's Exposure program a few weeks back and wanted to share them with you. I have two of their songs posted. I really like the whole album.
Next is Hurricane Bells, found out about these guys from a new soundtrack that is out. They don't really have to much out right now except and EP I think, could be wrong.
Then I have Miranda Lee Richards and Rachael Yamagata. Both ladies have wonderful voices and great songs.

Week # 14 - 11/17/09
So I had a bit of an issue figuring out who I wanted to feature this week (I have been stuck watching stupid Foamy The Squirrel Videos on YouTube…Addict now!). I finally settled on The Airborne Toxic Event and Anya Marina.
Airborne: Epic indie rockers founded by former journalist and up-and-coming novelist Mikel Jollett after the worst week of his life. During seven days in March 2006, Jollett’s mother was diagnosed with cancer, he learnt he was suffering from a potentially life-threatening autoimmune disease, and his long-term girlfriend left him. He says, “I just didn’t care anymore. I thought, maybe I’ll pay my rent, maybe I won’t, but what I am going to do is start a fucking rock band.” Jollett’s tales of death, depression and being dumped might suggest melancholy music, but the band write strangely uplifting songs that range from the dark tale of a late-night cuckolding, “Sometime Around Midnight,” to “Gasoline,” a sparky rocker Jollett introduces onstage as a “hymn to teenage sex.” (Q Magazine, writer Mic Wright, March 2009)
Marina: Originally from Ann Arbor MI this modern day Renaissance woman, actress, comic, disc jockey, and songwriter. She broke out with her singing carrier after the radio station she worked at in San Diego was bought out by another company. Her uniquely breathy vocals and talented writing skills got her started around 2004 and she has recently released her second album Slow & Steady Seduction: Phase II.

Week # 12 & 13 - 11/10/09
So, did you guys miss me last week?!?! Well I missed you. The Ohio trip was a great getaway, just wish it wasn’t so short. Amber and I both could have stayed gone longer. But with there not being a NMT last week, you will get twice the amount of music this week. YAH!
First off is a very long awaited album for me, and maybe for you too. Flyleaf! Yes that is right their sophomore album was released today! Woot Woot!! They have defiantly grown up over the past four years. Lacey Mosley’s voice has matured as well. She’s grown from heavy throaty screams to sophisticated melodies. And is it just me or do they not seem so angry anymore??? It is almost as if Flyleaf’s been hanging out with Fireflight. But anywho, great album, if you were a fan of Flyleaf before you will be impressed by the growth; if they weren’t your cup of tea, well check out their new release Memento Mori and you might like them now. I have their song “Again” posted for you to check out.
Next is Owl City. I have been loving the song 99x has been playing so I checked him out. The album. Ocean Eyes is the kind of music I typically put on when I have house work to do. You can sing along and kinda dance your way through your house cleaning. Or it is great for riding around with all the windows down when the weather was like it was this past weekend. I have the song Fireflies for you to check out. I hope you really enjoy Owl City.
This past weekend I went to see Whip It with a friend and the next artist was the love interest of Ellen Page’s character Bliss, Landon Pigg. I had this guy on my list for possibly being on this week and after watching the movie I took it as a sign. It was hard to find a song of his to post that wasn’t the one you most likely know, “Falling In Love At A Coffee Shop”. This is the song that is on the AT&T commercials. But I have his songs, “Keep Looking Up” and “Can’t Let Go”, for you to checkout. He has a great voice and I hope this kid will get some good recognition that he needs.
The last is someone to watch out for in the years to come. Dionne Bromfield, the goddaughter to Amy Winehouse. This young lady of 13 has a voice that can and should take her far. Falling in the musical footsteps of Winehouse, Bromfield has that vintage soul music sound of the 60’s girl group. If she plays her cards right this little brilliant songstress could be bigger than her godmother. Just hope she doesn’t fall into the lifestyle footsteps of Winehouse. Her debut album, “Introducing Dionne Bromfield” features covers of 12 classic songs that reflect her love of vintage music.

Week #11 - 10/27/2009
Welcome to this weeks NMT installment I hope everyone is have a great week. What are your plans for Halloween!??!?! I did my halloween celebrating last weekend with a friend since she and I will be road-trippin it up to Ohio this weekend. And since I will be gone, I am not sure if there will be a NMT next week. I will be traveling and not sure what time I will be back on Tuesday. So if I am not back in time I will just make an extra big special NMT for the following week like I did for week 6 & 7.
This week I have Metric and The Weebies. NMT is going up kinda late in the day for me because I couldn’t figure out what band I wanted to feature along side of Metric.
Then once I had picked The Weebies I couldn’t pick which songs I wanted to feature.
So I decided to feature two songs from both artists this week. I found Metric by listening to Shawn on 99x, here in Atlanta, and fell in love with the sound almost instantly. The Weebies, I can’t remember if Amber told me about them or if I had found the name somewhere else. But both groups are really really good! So check out the songs I have posted.

Week #10 - 10/20/2009
Hey everyone! I am just going to jump right on in to it this week.
First up is a group out of the UK, Band of Skulls. This trio’s sound is reminiscent of The Bravery and Franz Ferdinand. They fuse crafty blues with ballesy slabs of atmospheric indie rock to generate a sound that is haunting and captivating. They released their debut album, Baby Darling Doll Face Honey, this year and will have a song featured on the “New Moon” movie soundtrack. This week’s song for Band of Skulls is “I Know What I Am”.

This week I have two very different musical selections. One is the The Avett Brothers. Jennifer told me about these guys last week. They defiantly deserved to be checked out. And on a side note: If you really like these guys they will be at The Fox Theater in Atlanta January 1, 2010, tickets have already gone on sale (You know I will be there working the show!) ((The show was AMAZING! I got to work the pit and it has been a really long time since I've seen such a great new concert. Defiantly recommend seeing these guys if they ever come to your town))

Week #6 & 7- 09/29/09
Sorry about last week. As many of you know, most of Atlanta and her surrounding counties was under water last Monday thru Thursday. I, myself, was flooded into the neighborhood and wasn’t able to get out until late Tuesday afternoon. However, my internet was affected, I had to call AT&T and have them come out finally and take a look at it. Apparently the serge protector got fried, but only the portion that houses the cable for the internet, weird!? Here are some pictures of the flood.
Well anyways, due to the lack of access I was unable to get NMT up in a reasonable amount of time. But that just means you get TWICE the amount of music this week. And it is a good thing cause we have new bands for you to fall in love with and some old bands that have released Brand Spankin’ New Albums!!!!!
We’ll start with our oldies, but goodies, first. Last week Pearl Jam released their ump-tenth album, Backspacer, and these Seattle boys did not let us down. It is a really great album, some classic PJ sound with a little bit of a new twist. Like “The Fixer”, this song really gives us a new level to Vedder’s voice that we are not really use to hearing from him. (Check out “The Fixer” video/song posted)

Next, PARAMOR! Sorry, I am just really excited about this release. It has been a long wait for this groups third album. I fell in love with this group on their “Riot!” album and I’ve been craving more ever since. I really loved the song they did for the Twilight soundtrack, Decode, and all it did was leave me wanting more. Well, I finally got it! I just finished listening to the new album, “Brand New Eyes”, and I am very happy with the progression the band is taking and just fell in love with this band all over again.

The next two artists I just found out about last night. A friend of mine, Jillian, and I were trading bands back and fourth and I came away with a lot of new groups for you guys. But these two artists stood out the most to me from all the rest. The First is a guy by the name of Pete Murray. Classified as a Folk-pop singer/songwriter from Australia. I don’t know much about him, I’m still reading and learning myself. Just know that he was a star athlete and due to an injury started playing music. And that he is hot!!!!

The other artist is Sia, full name Sia Fuller, and is another Aussie. She got her big break as a backup singer for Jamiroqui. Which lead to her first solo single in 2000, “Taken for Granted”, then in 2002 she release her debut album, Healing is Difficult. The songs I have for you from these two artist are: Pete Murray-“So Beautiful” and Sia-“Breath Me” and “Soon We’ll Be Found”.

Week #5- 09/14/09
Welcome to Week 5 of NMT. I am just going to jump into things this week. I have Vampire Weekend and The New Pornographers for you to listen to this week. Both groups are very unique and you will either really like them or not.
Vampire Weekend is a carefree emo pop group from NYC that has a bit of a ska, afro-pop inspired melodies sound. I found out about these guys from the soundtrack of Nick and Nora’s Infinite Playlist. The group formed up in early 2006 while studing at Columbia University. They started out as a college band playing local bars and school auditoriums. Then buzz started to get around and the bands popularity hit a peak in 2007 and the band embarked on their biggest tour yet that summer. They were soon after signed to a major label and have since released two albums. Songs I recommend for listen other that posted song are: A-Punk and Oxford Comma. Check these guys out and let me know what you think. Yea or Nay?
Vampire Weekend - The Kids Don't Stand A Chance
The New Pornographers, are a Vancouver indi rock “Supergroup” with members from other popular Canadian groups like Zumpano, Evaporators and Destroyer. This group actually started up in 1997, but after several on-again / off-again merry-go-rounds, the group finally was able to get a debut album; Mass Romantic, out in 2000. Then the merry-go-round process started back up with all the members spending time with their other bands. But they somehow found time to get back in the studio to work on their follow-up album, Twin Cinema in 2005. The selection I have for you today came from the groups third album, Challengers, that was released in 2007. And if you like The New Pornographers then check out Neko Case. She is the female voice of the group. If you like TNP you might like her as well.

Week #4- 09/08/09
I hope everyone had a grat and relaxing Labor Day weekend. This past weekend kicked off the college football season, unfortunately my Dawgs didn’t win, but hopefully your favorite team did. This week I have two groups for you that I became aware of at a recent concert. These groups were the opening groups for a recent Death Cab for Cutie concert I worked at the Fox Theater here in Atlanta. Both are unique in their sound and grouping.
First is Matt Costa. His sound is very reminiscent of Bob Dylan. Only difference is that you can understand him. Costa was always interested in music, received his first guitar at 12 and played in a band through high school. But his first love was skateboarding. He was dreaming of going pro, but that came to a crashing end when he seriously injured his leg in an accident at the age of 18. During his recovery he shifted his focus to songwriting and guitar playing. He put out an EP that caught the attention of Brush Fire Records owner Jack Johnson who signed Costa to his label and invited him to open his tour in the summer of 2005. Costa’s first major-label record debut was in late 2005 with "Songs We Sing" and then followed up with his sophomore album "Unfamiliar Faces" in 2008. I couldn’t decide which song to post by Matt this week so you have two songs to listen/watch for him, Cold December and Mr. Pitiful.
The next group is Ra Ra Riot. From the moment this group hit the stage till they finished playing I was just blown away. This music ensemble is the perfect marriage of indie rock, songwriting and chamber pop flourishes. What this group sets up like on stage is; the three guys are on guitar, bass, keyboard and drums in the middle, while the girls accent the edges with violin and cello. They were at one point a group of six, but after a very sad drowning accident that resulted in the loss of beloved member and drummer, John Ryan Pike, shortly before the release of their debut EP. The group was encouraged by friends, family and loved ones to go on with the dream the group of friends had without Pike. Over the past year this group has built a very loyal and growing fan bas. They have been touring non-stop, which has provided them with more press coverage than many band will ever get in decades of playing.

Hello and welcome to New Music Tuesday’s third week! And it is a new month! I can’t believe it is already September. Before you know it the year will be over. This month I have a lot of good groups coming at you and a couple of new CD’s releases from bands that you might already know. So I hope you keep coming back each week to check in to see what has caught my ear.
First up is a group by the name of Band of Horses. I can’t exactly remember where I found these guys but I just fell in LOVE with their sound. These guys hit the music scene around 2004 with their “woodsy blend of mid-tempo rock and reverb-laden vocals.” I guess if I had to compare these guys to another band it would be Death Cab, but then not really either. There must be something about the Northwest USA and great music. I love all the songs but The Great Salt Lake and Is There A Ghost are my favorites.

The second group is Amberlin. This group has actually been around for a little while, but they have a new line up of members, new producer and also just got signed to a major label. These guys are gearing up to be your next emo punk rock band, following in the footsteps of other groups like Fall Out Boy and Madina Lake, they are soon to have every young lady out there swooning over them. Fave songs from the album are Heavier Things Remain and Breaking.

Week #2- 08/25/09
Welcome Back to NMT!
Today I have two artist that not only sing but also dabble a bit in acting. I stumbled across this first artist about a year ago. If any of you know of Joshua Radin, then you know her voice, Schuyler Fisk (pronounced Sky-l-er). She toured for a while with Joshua and sang back up for him on a few songs on the “We Were Here” album. After a long wait she finally released her own debut album “The Good Stuff”.
Daughter of actress Sissy Spacek, Schuyler started out following in her mothers footsteps as an actress up until her early twenties. Then she shifted her focus to songwriting, and began actively pursuing her music career. Around this time is when she meet up with Radin and the two began a songwriting partnership and got a contract with Universal Records. Their most notable song “Paperweight” was chosen for the motion picture soundtrack for “The Last Kiss” in 2006.
Schuyler Fisk - Who Am I To You?
The second artist is Glen Hansard. I first heard his music a few years back during the Academy Awards when his song from the movie “Once” was nominated and received the award for Best Song written for a Motion Picture. I fell in love with this Dublin born artist at the very moment I heard the song. I found the movie, watched it, and then bought the music. He didn’t only write the music for the movie but stared in it as well along side Czech sonstress Marketa Irglova. Hansard was once the founder and front man for the Irish band The Frames.
